Safety Seminar 2015

Over 40 delegates, including a strong contingent of tug masters and pilots, attended this year’s safety seminar at the City of Glasgow College’s superb new facility on the banks of the Clyde. Chaired by Nick Dorman of Targe, key points were that rope handling is involved in over half of all incidents, the lesson from the Tug Asterix capsize was ‘communication, communication, communication’ and safe speed needs constant reiteration. The opportunity was also taken to launch the BTA’s ‘Pilots’ Pocket Guide and Checklist for Harbour Towage’.
